Following a successful inaugural season that proved its community-driven, first-principles football model, DIAS Strovolou announces the start of a new season and a new stage of growth. Pre-season starts later this month, with the club preparing to build on last season’s momentum both on and off the pitch.

Founded one year ago by eight friends, including captain and co-founder Panayiotis Kakourides, DIAS was launched with a clear goal: build a professional, apolitical, self-sustainable football club that belongs to the local community. The club finished its first season in 4th place, joint-highest goalscorers in the division, and did so on a €12,500 budget with no player salaries.

“We wanted to prove that high standards, professionalism, and the right culture can outperform money,” said Kakourides. “Last season showed that it’s possible.”

With match highlights gaining traction online and local supporters beginning to recognise the badge, the club is now moving into a new phase of growth. DIAS has strengthened its squad with targeted signings, introduced a more structured pre-season schedule, and is planning additional community events and revenue initiatives.

“The next step is promotion to the 4th division,” Kakourides added. “We’ve built the foundations. This season is about taking the model to the next level.”

DIAS Strovolou’s long-term goal is to reach the 3rd division within five years while remaining rooted in its core principle: everything starts with performance on the pitch.
